Arts & Community Betterment

The Musgrave Foundation has been a generous supporter of the arts and other projects which enhance the betterment of the community.

A Musgrave Foundation grant recipient, the Greater Ozarks Chapter of the American Red Cross was chartered in 1917 and serves 23 counties in southwest Missouri. As a local chapter, it is self-sustaining, maintained through local donations of time and money.

The mission of the Red Cross is to provide relief to victims of disasters and to help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. The slide show at left illustrates a few of the ways the Red Cross helps area people. My Story

The Salvation Army Harbor House is indebted to the generosity of the Musgrave Foundation. Their partnership over the years has been crucial in enabling us to more adequately and effectively meet the needs of those less fortunate in our community.

The Harbor House, located at 636 N. Boonville, Springfield, MO is home to men who find themselves in a physical, emotional, or spiritual crisis. It is also host to our Front Line Feeding program which provides a hot and nutritious noon meal 7 days a week to anyone in the community, which includes a meal on Thanksgiving and Christmas days, and our Day Labor Program where we serve as a liaison between employers in need of short-term help and individuals in need of work.

Individuals coming into the Harbor House find a safe, clean place that is Christian based and committed to their best interests making available resources to help them.

The Musgrave Foundation grants have provided us with the necessary funds to purchase such items as a new commercial dishwasher, a new commercial gas range and steam stable, shower valves & kitchen faucets, vacuums, a floor machine, 80 gallon hot water heater, a meat slicer, washers and dryers, charcoal grills, picnic tables, an ice/water dispenser, as well as many other dining room items and funds to assist in the maintenance and repair of the building and equipment.

The Harbor House program, since opening in January 1998, has provided shelter and ministered to over 1,800 men. The Front Line Feeding Program has served a noon meal to approximately 65,000 people yearly.
