With the funding support of local grants, SWMOA is able to expand our service offering to include so many other valuable services to seniors. Through the Musgrave Foundation, our agency was recently able to provide a ramp to an 82-year-old Christian County resident named Pat. After losing her husband several years ago, she has lived alone and struggled to remain independent due to declining health herself. She became dependent on a walker and wheelchair for daily mobility, and became isolated because she could not leave her home. It was with the funding of a Musgrave Grant that we were able to build a ramp on her trailer home so Pat could again use her wheelchair to go get the mail and enjoy the outdoor beauty. The Musgrave Foundation literally helped change Pat’s life.
Through another Musgrave grant, our agency received funding for Care Coordination upgrades in technology dollars to help us provide a “full picture” review of seniors’ needs and potential services that enhance senior independence. This greatly increased our ability to assess and more efficiently serve seniors in their homes, allowing us to increase our outreach numbers on a daily basis. Additionally, the Musgrave Foundation has helped us expand our services through Senior Center outreach and walk-in services.
We are so grateful of the generosity of the Musgrave Foundation and the support they provide to our local communities, and our clients share in our appreciation. “Thank you for making it possible for me, a senior, to receive all the wonderful in-home services you help provide. I am often brought to tears when I think of how these services have helped me be more independent and remain at my own home. Thank you SWMOA, and Musgrave, for all the concerns and care I receive from you.” Gladys
